There is a scam that continues, and we thought you would like to know. This time, it’s a texting scam disguised as a delivery notification from companies like Amazon or Federal Express. According to Amazon, scammers are sending text messages to people claiming that they have packages from Amazon ready for delivery and instructs the customer to follow a link in the text for details. Similar text scams from Federal Express have also been reported.
When you click on the link, it takes you to a fake web page that looks nearly identical to the company’s real website. You are required to fill in certain personal and financial information to confirm the delivery.
Amazon said that you would have already provided all the necessary billing and shipping information at the time of your placing an order, and suggests the following tips to avoid this type of scam:
- Block the phone number.
- Delete the Text message.
- Go Directly to the company’s website to check the status of an order.
If you receive suspicious robocalls, text messages, or email regarding an order you did not place, it is likely a scam. Amazon suggests sending the email or text as an attachment to stop-spoofing@amazon.com
